Masamune-kun’s age might be as of a kid, but his mind is like an adult. he knows exactly what he wants in life. so when i asked him what he wanted to eat for lunch, he said “mushroom chicken at Yajima-ya.”
and when i asked him about dessert, he said “Waiola Shave Ice.” it’s amazing when kids can make up their own minds.
we pull up to the beach at 2pm. there was some commotion at the hilton lagoon. i seen a girl walking frantically and crying. i walk up to her to ask “what’s wrong?” she said “why is the ambulance taking so long!!!!” come to find out, somebody drowned and some bystanders were trying to revive him. watching a lifeless body being pumped in the chest is traumatizing for anyone, including myself. the man is now in critical condition at the hospital.
the firemen finally arrive, but it seemed too late. after this, i couldn’t stop thinking to myself “why aren’t there any lifeguards at the Hilton lagoon? there are thousands of people using it every day but no lifeguards? there might be one on the far side near the hotel, but there isn’t any on the parking lot side where the man drowned. and no, this wasn’t the first drowning at this lagoon.
we come in from surfing and i look at the lagoon again. putting a lifeguard stand up right on this side of the lagoon could save lives. wouldn’t you think so?
came home after a long day and watched the pieces going back together again. the new look on the dune buggy is going to be freaking awesome! can’t wait to drive it!
