today was another perfect day for training with Aoi! the weather was perfect, the wind was perfect, and the waves were perfect.
we pulled up to Off The Wall and it was empty. looked up to Ehukai and it was packed. so that was an easy decision for us to make.
i just love days like this. i can coach and surf at the same time.
and to see my nephew and niece on the north shore today made it even better.
after last weeks pipeline surf with Aoi, i think he realized that nobody is just going to give him a wave. so when him mom told me that he was super aggressive in the contest he entered yesterday, i was so happy to hear that.
there were so many sponsored kids out surfing at Off The Wall. all of them sponsored by big corporations. Aoi’s day will come.

went for a hulihuli chicken lunch. only on the weekends!
ate lunch at Haleiwa and watched some perfect waves coming through. so why not surf again right?
with this swell from the north direction, the lefts at Haleiwa get good. real good!
Aoi paddled out and surfed aggressively. confidence is building up in this kid.
Marissa surfed good too! it was her first north shore experience!
Chifumi-san caught so many waves and surfed it perfectly! when she came in, she was happier than Aoi. haha.
today was the first time i seen Aoi speed down the line and do a huge off the lip! and he made it! this kids surfing so good recently!
good job today Aoi. i was stoked watching you catch so many waves. next time hopefully we can get some big barrels. then you will be smiling even more!
