my new years resolution was to slow down. but instead, i think i’m going faster than ever!
yesterday started off at 6am down at the yacht club. i was going to take Kobayashi-san surfing at 8am so had the afternoon off. i called up the boys and told them to meet me at 1pm if they want to go for an overnight adventure.
i was going to go with or without them. so i loaded up Mayuki alone in the dark.
made sure all my gear was ready. i wanted to go explore a new destination. a destination where there are no people.
then paddled out with Kobayashi-san at 8am. the waves were and conditions were perfect!
watched Kobayashi-san catch wave after wave after wave. in 2.5 hours, he caught over 35 waves. i couldn’t believe how much energy he had!
also doing some nice cross steps. hopefully next time i can teach him how to hang 5!
just 3 years ago, Kobayashi-san use to be tired after each wave. but after working on some breathing techniques, his cardios is as strong as a marathon runner. awesome surfing!
then a hot pho to end the perfect morning session. thank you Kobayashi-san for the amazing marathon surfing day. you did great!
then i pulled into the yacht club at 1pm. the boys were there 10 minutes early because they know if they come late, i’ll leave without them. Uncle Kirby never waits. haha.
put Mayuki at 35 knots and headed for the blue horizon! whales and dolphins everywhere!
as these boys Uncle, it’s my responsibility to teach these kids how to be responsible. how to be on time, how to be respectful, how to be kind, how to drive a boat, how to dive, and most importantly, how to survive.
we got to our super secret spot and had the super amazing dive session. here is Joshua Moniz going up for air after spearing his first ulna. Seth Moniz on the top making sure his older brother is ok. these 2 kids are amazing dive partners. i was lying on the bottom of the ocean thinking “i’m so proud of these kids!”
lots of photos and stories of our amazing trip coming. i’m too tired to push another key on my computer. going to sleep and surf all day tomorrow! back to my “life on the fast lane!” hope you can keep up.
