diving with my nephews is always fun. i just sit back and watch them learn by experience, and learn by mistake. haha. they all get so excited when something crazy happens, and that’s when they can’t hold their breath for even 5 seconds. Joshua speared an Ulua in a big cave. after it got stuck in there, he looked at me and i said “i ain’t helping you. you guys figure it out.”
the fish and his shaft was stuck deep in the back of a very dark cave. this looks pretty shallow but the water was crystal clean so you’re looking at 40′.
they tried over and over to try to get the fish out. BUT, they didn’t see the huge eel that was eating the fish alive. and didn’t see the eel hiding in this hole. so when i dove down to take a look, i seen this monster eel looking at me straight in the eyes and trying to bite my head off. the boys started freaking out even more. haha. look good and you will see the head sticking out on the right side of this photo. it was the size of my thigh!
i told Joshua, “it’s your fish so if you want it, you have to go get it from the eel.” i was laughing so much watching this kid trying so hard to fight with the eel.
this is a very dark hole so i could imagine how freaky the kids were. i was even scared when i went in there.
finally, Joshua got his fish out! look at the big bites in the head from the eel! that could have been one of our heads??? anyway, it was another amazing experience the boys will be telling their kids and grandkids. and a story i will never forget! by the way, we ate it for sashimi that night and it was delicious!
