omg, do you see the rainbow in the back of the wave??? i was shooting Ando-san on this perfect wave and seen the rainbow coming off the spray. it was so beautiful! and what’s more beautiful is Mayuki in the background. haha.
Ando-san asked me when is the best time of year to come to hawaii. i told him “today!” this spot breaks only in the winter with the right swell direction, right wind, right tide, right weather, and right timing. he couldn’t have picked a better day.
even i was amazed on how uncrowded it was. just a few of some heavy locals here and there all taking turns.
this guy Bobby is an all timer! one of the uncles that surfs every single day of his life. super good surfer!
Reid paddled out in the afternoon and got some good ones too. just so perfect conditions.
and so happy to see Yuko-chan back in the water! it was her first time surfing here and she was stoked! nice long rides!
Ando-san caught over 30 waves, i only caught about 20. but every wave was perfect so can’t complain, especially when i’m doing 5 off the lips on each wave.
Ando-san has been surfing for over 20 years so we have a lot of mutual friends. now that we’ve met, our world will only grow. more off the lips, and a bigger surfing world.
thank you Ando-san for the 6 hour marathon surfing day. you surfed so good and caught so many perfect waves! i had a great time watching you rip and smile. tell all the boys back in Irago i said ALOHA!
