so happy to see Naozo-san and Miwa-san here in hawaii. arrived today from japan and straight to Mayuki! a day to relax, and a day to surf!
right before we went out, the waves were super junky and onshore. so this spot is usually crowded with 30 surfers but there were only 3. and right when we paddled out, the sun came out and it turned perfect. omg! score!
Miwa-san told me earlier this year that she is serious about her surfing in 2017. she wants to get better and is training hard mentally. and it showed today as she caught so many good waves. i was so happy to see that! i even seen her catch the longest wave of the day.
perfect glassy conditions and crystal clear water. i couldn’t believe how empty it was on this usually crowded saturday afternoon.
Miwa-san had the lefts all to herself. every wave she wanted, she got. such a lucky surf session in hawaii today.

when i was sitting on the table working on my new speargun, one of the staff came up to me and said, “gosh, you are like a kid with a new toy.” i told him “yeah, i feel like a kid with a new toy.” haha. i can just hold this speargun in my hand and imagine shooting dinner. the next day i have off is when i’m going to the ocean and doing exactly that!
