it’s crazy how so many things can happen in just one day. yesterday morning started off surfing with these newlyweds. Asai-san and Saki-san surfed a few times before, but nothing like yesterday. the waves were excellent and the rides were very long. they were so happy!
then we went to eat some hot pho at yet another one of my favorite restaurants. superb!
then went to load up the truck with supplies and friends. planned an overnight outer island trip but was kind of worried because of the huge storm coming. in the morning, i told them to get ready to put on their full wetsuits on from the start. supposed to be 90% rain and heavy thunder showers.
we left the harbor at 12:15pm and right as we started, i get the text warning on my iPhone. in fact, we all did. SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH! OMG! none of us wanted to turn around so we kept on going straight to our destination!
and OMG, it was as beautiful at i could be. perfect conditions and perfect weather. not a drop of rain! lucky!
in the night, we seen millions of stars, some shining bright, some shooting across the sky. it was absolute beauty! woke up this morning to the golden sunrise. i knew it was going to be an amazing day.
mixed bag of fish for all of us. and on the way home, we got even luckier trolling.
this is what i mean by lucky! we caught a big barracuda with big teeth right before we were going to bring in the poles and call it a day. so stoked!
such a beautiful island. i wish i could have stayed there for a week!
check out our breakfast in the sea!
ramen with pork hash and egg. something so wonderful to wake up to.
i didn’t have reception pretty much the whole time, except for 10 minutes. but i was happy to turn off the electronics and enjoy nature and friends. priceless. anyway, when i finally got reception, i got another alert. FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL ISLANDS. the funny thing is it never rained a drop from yesterday. we were very lucky to have the perfect Mayuki boat trip!
then coming back this evening from not seeing a single building, to seeing this. culture shocking!
last, today is 6 years from a day that changed many lives, including mine.
that day taught me how to love, how to give, how to respect, how to understand, how to forgive, and most of all, how to live my life to the fullest each day. i want to thank our WE ARE ONE volunteers, supporters, new friends, and families we met along the way. keep strong, keep moving forward. i hope all your dreams come true.
We Are One!
