Leash Cord Drama

315

today was the last day of training so i wanted to make sure everything was perfect before these 2 wonderful surfers go back to Japan. wanted to make sure Toshimi-san was confident enough to paddle into big waves on her own. that was accomplished!

wanted to make sure Rikita-san had his arms in the perfect stylish position. that was accomplished!

during our session, Rikita-san wasn’t moving for a long time. i was wondering what he was doing???? come to find out, his leash was stuck on the reef. that’s kind of freaky so i was happy that Rikita-san stayed very calm. if this ever happens to you, please stay calm. then simply take the leash off your ankle and swim away from your board. when all the waves and surge pass, then you can untangle the leash off the reef.

i swam down to take a look and the leash was wrapped around this coral.

some people don’t open their eyes and do it by feel but i recommend you opening your eyes. see that sea urchin? yeah, ouch! i got it untied and we went back to surfing. very simple.

then Rikita-san was back in action!

and Toshimi-san too!

luckily i got this underwater shot of the duck dive. so beautiful!

super stoked to see my friend Carter out there ripping it on his brand new board.

ate lunch and dropped off Rikita-san and Toshimi-san off in the mountains. from surfing in the beautiful ocean to hiking in the refreshing mountain. can’t beat a perfect day like that. thank you both for the wonderful time in Hawaii! keep on practicing and see you guys again soon!
