Catch, Clean, and Eat

229

when i think about my future, i really want to live a simple life. a simple life with good friends, good experiences, and good food.

all these years, i’ve been preparing myself for that day. the day to jump in the ocean and bring home dinner. just enough to feed the family. in this case, one fish to feed a friend and myself.

i also like to clean the fish in the sea. that way the scraps go back into the ocean.

that’s why i always keep a knife and cutting board on Mayuki.

each fish has to be prepared differently. this one is pretty easy.

just filet it for sashimi.

and make sure you don’t leave any meat on the bone. if i had my fryer on the boat, i would have made “hone senbei” or fried fish bone.

then chill the sashimi over ice.

then grab a cold draft beer.

then enjoy the precious resources of the ocean. i can’t wait to retire and so this everyday!

*thank you Nao-san for the photos.
