it was a gorgeous day today! went to pick up Maichan for a surf and the waves couldn’t be any better for her. she wanted to try to longboard for the first time so that’s what we did.
it’s amazing how fast this girl can learn how to do different things. she told me she wants to surf like Kelia Moniz so that’s are goal.
from short boarding to long boarding, it’s pretty hard to do. but when you can be calm and keep to the basics, it’s pretty dam easy.
there’s this girl that longboards at Ala Moana all the time. i always thought she’s the best out there and so do a lot of other surfers. so graceful, so calm, and so stylish. i told Maichan to watch her and just copy her style.
then Maichan took off on her next wave and did just that.
she even took her first cross step! that’s so amazing!
as we were taking and laughing, a turtle popped up to say hello. i asked Maichan what she says when local guys tries to hook up with her in Hawaii. she told me she tells them that she is 16 years old and still in high school. then the guys walk right away. haha. that’s so funny!
great job today Maichan. good luck on your college final presentation tomorrow. you can do it!
the typhoons off Japan are awakening right now. i’m watching the forecast and my schedule really carefully. if the timing is right, i’ll be there…
