i haven’t spent so much time in dark caves deep underwater for a while. it’s freaky when you dive into a hole of a cave at 15′, then come out the other side a minute later at 42′. this is the best mental training you can ever imagine. if you panic, you won’t make it out. you just have to go with the flow…
Maki-san impressed me so much. when i told her to go into the cave, i thought she would say no. but instead, she took a breath and went for it.
this is a huge accomplishment in her life. now anything is possible…
much more comfortable, much more confident, and much more happy. good job Maki-san!
Brittney is a true mermaid. she swam across the Molokai channel before so diving these caves is a piece of cake for her. i was following her taking photos like this and running out of breath. she would stop and i would think “please don’t stop!” haha. reminds me of the time i was diving with the Japanese Amasan ladies and losing my breath. these are the true “Women of the Sea.”
as a photographer, i like to wait for the perfect lighting. and when i see it, i want you to see it too. thank you Brittney for the being the perfect Mermaid!
seen a school of Moi swimming back and forth. it was freaking so beautiful!
-can’t wait to do this again. in fact, we all can’t wait!
