whenever i get invited to a Patagonia party, i never turn it down. free food and drinks, excellent entertainment, great vibe, and probably the best party in town. so last night, i was there!
the party was all about Hokulea. it was so cool listening to the stories of the captain and crew. i would have signed up for that voyage if i knew where to sign up. that’s an experience of a lifetime.
like always, a party is always better with a super good crowd of friends.
and super good food. every Patagonia party has a suckling pig. crispy skin and juicy meat. i ate way too much.
i wanted to take the head home! the best part of the pig! poi and pig is Hawaiian style.
i admire and respect each and and every member of the Hokulea voyage around the world. these guys and girls are all true watermen with amazing hearts. total respect!
super stoked to know Haunani who was a member of the voyage. an amazing surfer and an amazing girl.
i worked with Haunani before. i was the cameraman, and she was the model/surfer. we were determined to get the cover shot of the Surfer Girls Magazine in Japan. met up early and went out many mornings to Kaisers and worked pretty hard to get the shot. this is one of the most beautiful photos i’ve ever taken of a surfer girl. good light, good surfer, good weather, and great smile! congratulations Haunani on your fantastic Hokulea voyage!
