had a blast surfing Thanksgiving day with Takahashi-san. it was his first time ever on a surfboard and he was so stoked to get up on his first wave. i could hear the stoke from start to finish.
then he wanted more and more. the conditions were absolutely perfect and nobody was out. i guess everybody was eating turkey?
caught a few good waves for myself. had to burn off some calories because my trunks were getting a little tight for me.
yeah, we had the Thanksgiving day to ourselves. good surfing Takahashi-san. i’m so stoked you enjoyed your first surfing experience.

with these North winds, the water gets as clean as it can ever get. so as i was sitting in the water at Ala Moana today surfing in the morning, i looked down and thought to myself “it’s the perfect day to scrub Mayuki!” so i jump on and take her out to sea. i start scrubbing and all kinds of fish started coming by me. and it was only 10′ deep! so i grabbed my speargun, took a few deep breaths, and in about an hour later, there were the absolute best selection of fish on the stringer.
it usually takes me a full day to get quality fish like this. but not today!
