Precious Breath

412

when i first came to Japan 28 years ago almost to this day, i fell in love with the kind people and the deep culture. everything fascinated me then, and everything still fascinates me now. i fell in love with a county where some of my deepest roots came from. my great great Grandparents brought this culture back to Hawaii, and i was born right into it. now i get to live in the real thing. i get to taste the best food, i get to meet some best friends, and get to live out the best experiences. for that, i’m very thankful…

just the sight of kimonos makes me so happy. the first thing that comes to my mind is my Grandma Osaki. i was very young when she passed away so i don’t remember a lot about her. but one thing i remember so well is her playing the Koto in her kimono at home. strumming the song “sakura” so gracefully as it still plays in my mind till this day…

people come from all over Japan to this temple to make wishes. i have a wish too.

“please keep healthy, please keep happy, and please enjoy each precious breath of your life. never take anything for granted. love your family, love your friends, and love your life…”
