surfing together with my nephews was one of my dreams. that came true. diving with nephews was another. that came true this year. to see them getting so comfortable in the water is so cool. with north shore big wave season right around the corner, these kids are going to have a big advantage over other kids their age. i can’t wait!
by the way, how’s my boat looking? the guy i bought it from custom built this for fishing. i don’t fish, i dive. so i dropped the boat off at his house the other day and said “hey, i’m going on a trip for 3 weeks, take out all the fishing stuff, rip everything apart, start all over, and build this into the best 14′ dive boat in the world. i need a big cooler box, i need 3 places to sleep for molokai trips, and i want it perfect because i’m keeping this boat for the next 15 years.” it’s under construction and i can’t wait to see it when i get back from japan!
washing up is only good when you catch fish. when you don’t catch fish, it sucks. moments like this is fun because you hear all the stories. some true, some false, and some totally exaggerated.
later that night, we ate sashimi, stuffed uhu, and steamed kumu’s. all fresh, all caught by us, and all good!
for the next 30 years, your going to hear a story of a 14 year old birthday boy who found an ulua hole, dove down with a spear, shot it down, brought it up, and fed 15 people later that night. that boy is Seth Moniz. and we were all there as proof. good job seth.
