Panic Diving for Tako

It takes some time and patience to figure out free diving.  It’s something you can’t just master in days.  It took me about 5 years to dive just 15′ deep.  The pressure of the mask squeezing your face, your ears feeling like it’s going to explode, and the fear of sharks is terrifying.  Yes, it’s a very uncomfortable place to be if you’re not use to it.  So as I teach others how to free dive, I simply tell them to relax, be calm, and let the process flow.  It’s going to come and when it does, you’re going to be amazed.

The most peaceful place in the world.  This is where you’re totally connected to nature.  Under here, nothing else matters.

Good job girl!  You’re almost there!

The first time someone threw a tako on me in the ocean freaked me out.  BUT, it made me realize that I have to remain calm until the tako decides to let go.  So throwing a tako on people for the first time is always fun.  You should have heard this girl screaming underwater.  The lesson here is that panicking gets you nowhere.

November 8, 20274 Hawaii Surf Report

Freedive Hawaii…

Good morning 4:10am.
North shore coming up to 5′ later today.
Ala Moana knee high and clean.
Diamond Head waist high and bumpy.
Trade winds at 20mph.
Sun, clouds, showers, and rainbows.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

Bee Sting Perfection

We went surfing this afternoon and nobody was out again.  Then after Hashimoto-san almost got this beautiful barrel, 6 long boarders came out.

We had fun again surfing and laughing.  It’s been pretty peaceful because we’re practically having all these waves to ourselves.

My house was super windy today.  But the ocean was as calm as it gets.  Perfect glassy conditions today.

Where are all these bees coming from?  One crawled up my leg and stung me right in the middle of my thigh.  It stung at first and now it’s super itchy!  It’s been a while for a bee sting but it just reminds me that we’re in the middle of nature.  Bees can’t swim, but they can sure fly out to the middle of the ocean and sting you.  OUCH!

Coming in and feeling content again.  The ocean is super calm so when the waves come, it’s absolutely perfection!
