Tourism Boom in Waikiki!

Good morning 4am.
South swell has arrived!
Ala Moana shoulder high and perfect. Getting bigger this afternoon.
Diamond Head head high good.
Light trade winds at 15mph.
Sun, clouds, and warm.
Going to surf.

i wasn’t planning to do an afternoon session but when i drove through and got this front row parking spot, the ocean looked irresistible!  so i ended up foiling 2 hours!

it’s been a while so i thought i’d drive through Waikiki.  OMG, there was so many cars and so many people!

there were about 400 people in the ocean.  surfing is booming!

and thousands on the beach.  no wonder the covid is spreading super fast here.  i’m still trying to avoid crowds…

and when the tourists return, the crime returns.  just another guy getting arrested in Waikiki.  and it’s only going to get worst…

there are so many tourists in Hawaii right now.  these guys were weaving on the road so when i pulled on the side of them, i understood why.

they were looking at their phones when driving!  one hand on the handlebar, and the other on their phone.  this is how people die…

good to see Nao-san’s nephews loving the ocean in Enoshima, and loving Seth Moniz too.  that’s pretty cool!   

Saori-chan sent me this photo of clouds in Japan, asking me if i can see something.  yes i can.  can you?

this sunrise, all the locals were calling it “the land of the rising sun.”  it was very unique, very Japanese, and very special…
