COVID-19 Pre-Testing for Hawaii

i was happy to see the Christmas trees on sale already.  Christmas makes me happy!i drove by Diamond Head and couldn’t believe how beautiful it was!  and there were no foilers out so i had to jump in for a few.  i just love the beach down there.  super private and super beautiful. look how good the waves were!  and it was empty today!  Maki-san waiting for the perfect wave as a local guy already riding his.  drove home and there were no clouds in the sky.  yeah!Waikiki is still a ghost town.  but come October 15th, some hotels will open up for tourist again.  here’s how to get your test and be able to enter Hawaii with no quarantine:

Pre-testing Program

We are still in the difficult stages of the evolvement of COVID-19 and our State and Local authorities have developed extreme precautionary protocol before arriving to our island;

  1. Under the program, travelers who test negative for COVID-19 no more than 72 hours before arrival will qualify for a quarantine exemption.
  2. Travelers of all ages are subject to this rule except children under 5 years of age.
  3. The state is contracting with Kaiser Permanente, Walgreens and CVS to offer the tests on the mainland.  Tests will cost ~$140.
  4.  Hawaiian Airlines will be offering drive-through testing to travelers from California, in addition to United Airlines. Tests will cost $90-150 for Hawaiian Airlines depending on how quickly travelers want results and $250 for United.

Don’t be a SNAKE!

it’s been really crowded recently so i want to talk about surfing etiquette.  what is snaking?  snaking is when somebody is already riding a wave, then a snake will go behind the surfer and take off inside.  so that guy on the blue longboard was riding from the outside.  then that surfer taking off inside of him late just turned around and went.  that’s not cool.  so as i was watching this all unfold at Three’s, i was thinking what would i have done…the guy on the longboard doesn’t even know that somebody is behind him.  but the guy behind him is yelling “hey, hey, get off my wave!”  that’s such a distraction!  then the longboard sees him and pulls out.  now, what would i have done if i were the long boarder?  first, i would have taken off and went a little left to cut off that snake.  and if that snake kept on going, i would have did a cutback right into him.  and i were on my foil, i would have pumped 10 circle around that snake and never let him catch a wave after that.  haha.  opps, i think this pandemic is finally making me irritated.  just to see that made me upset.  i don’t like snakes at all, nobody does…
