Mother Nature Decides!

I was surprised to see the ocean so clean this morning.  After all the rubbish and debris in the Ala Wai Canal yesterday, I thought it would all be at Bowls this morning.  But the ocean is amazing and it does what it wants to do.  Including bigger waves than yesterday, no jellyfish, sunny sky, rainbows, and no contest.  Everybody thought the worst because nobody was out.

We were expecting heavy rain and storms today but it was as beautiful as it gets.  Mother Nature decides when and where.

Bunasawa-san on his first trip to Hawaii, and first surf in Hawaii.  After he caught his first wave, he looked super content.

After this ride he paddled back out and said “SO FUN!”

Yes, the water was pretty clean considering what we all saw yesterday.

This was last night.

This was this morning.

And this was this afternoon.  I’m wondering when Mother Nature is going to send its tides and currents to take all this junk out to Bowls?  Nobody knows when, but it will surely happen.  I’ll keep you posted.

Muscle memory.

Good morning 3:40am.
Ala Moana chest high and good.
Diamond Head shoulder high and bumpy.
Trade winds at 20mph.
Sun, clouds, rain, contest, box jellyfish, and dirty water.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

Session of a Lifetime!

There was a high school surf contest at Bowls today so there were like a hundred kids practicing early in the morning.  I told Yoshikawa-san to sit next to me and when I go on a set, drop in and GO!

Yoshikawa-san ended up getting 4 perfect sets this morning!  This is just one of them as we both rode it to the end.

He paddled back out each time with a bigger smile on his face.  I told him to get ready for another one.

Ala Moana Bowls is the best left point wave on the South Shore.  It’s so good that one wave can make your day.  But riding 4 perfect ones will make your day 4x better.

Half way through this wave, I pulled out and watched Yoshikawa-san ride it all the way to the end.

Just a few Uncles out this morning and Keoni was one of them.

The contest started which was perfect timing as we caught our last wave going right.  It was an epic session.  Yoshikawa-san told me that he will remember this session for the rest of his life.

Then I drove straight to Seth’s house to watch the UFC fight.  So cool to hang out with my Nephew’s as we all love to watch fights.

Then I drove straight back to town to watch my Grand-nephew’s first baseball game.  OMG, they were so cute!!!!

It rained in the mountains today so all the debris came down the Ala Wai Canal.  OMG, I couldn’t believe this is the Waikiki Yacht Club.  This is crazy!  I better go check on Mayuki tomorrow.
