Chatan is located about 45 minutes from the airport. it’s the coolest little town with good waves, good food, good vibes, and good friends. a typical day goes something like this…

walk from the hotel a few steps and arrive a Sunabe seawall. checking the waves right her determines the day. important things to look for is swell direction, wind, and most importantly, tide. because the only time you can surf in Okinawa is on high tide.

i’ve been staying at The Seaside Beach hotel for years. lots of golden memories right in this building. want to thank Takahashi-san for always making me feel like a King when i stay here.

dinners usually start off at 7pm after a sunset surf. 198yen or $1.75 ice cold draft beers is not a bad deal? yeah, things in Okinawa are way cheaper than anywhere else in Japan. and once you start with a cold one, it’s very hard to stop. especially when you have your best friends like Carter and Hayato making you laugh.

the best cure for a hangover is Hamaya Soba. waiting in line in the hot sun is dreadful, but once you get a seat, the wait is always worth it.

for me, it automatic to order the pigs feet soba, with extra pigs feet on the side.

this soba is unbelievable! once again, something you will never find in Hawaii.

then if the waves at Sunabe doesn’t provide happiness, jump in the car and search for that perfect foiling wave. so stoked when Kazubo-san dropped off this car to my hotel yesterday, threw me the keys, and said “it’s yours.” going to look for a swell to foil so be back soon. have a wonderful day!
Chatan: Things to do
Searching for the perfect foil wave…

boys will be boys. so Hayato loaded up the toys and he, Carter, and i headed out to play.

every single wave that breaks is foilable. and i just picture myself flying over the ocean like a bird.

the last typhoon had its effects on Okinawa too.

lucky find!

nice beaches all over the place.

crystal clear water and blue sky.

and breathtaking views.

Carter’s first time here so everything is new to him. i still can’t forget the first time i came here too. felt the Aloha spirit everywhere.

kind of cool just hanging out with friends having a great time. i’m so happy to be in Okinawa right now!
PIG FEET: KIX TO OKA

on the train heading to the airport at Kansai.

that last big typhoon sent a ship crashing right into the bridge. so they were still repairing it.

it’s crazy how much damage there was!

looked over from the train and could see everything.

yes, this is the only bridge connecting KIX airport to the main island.

and it’s not looking like it will be fixed anytime soon

jumped on a flight headed to OKA which is Okinawa! i haven’t been there in a while so i was actually super excited.

first stop was pigs feet Okinawan soba. it was delicious!!!

then made it right in time for the sunset at a white sandy beach.

it’s amazing how much Okinawa and Hawaii have so much in common.

cool sunset, and cooler clouds.

yes everybody. i wish you were here!!! Mensore!
going to hang out with friends, eat, foil, relax, and laugh a lot. see you guys around…
