Asayama Taro!
Good morning 5:15am.
Ala Moana waist high and clean.
Diamond Head chest high and bumpy.
Trade winds at 20mph.
Sun, clouds, showers, and rainbows.
Going surfing morning till evening.
Have a beautiful day!
Waikiki Tiger Shark Alert!

had an awesome time with the boys celebrating 4th of july last night. Reid, Jason, and Carter. nice time bbq and talking story guys!

day 3 for Asayama-san this morning. just training to be relaxed, confident, and focused. why? because there is a big swell coming very soon!

Asayama-san doesn’t like to go left so i made him go left all day long. if you get better going left, you will get better going right. it’s that simple.

then had a great lunch in china town, then headed off into the rainbow for our evening free dive.

it was getting dark and this is my favorite time because it’s feeding time for fish. and it’s dark underwater so the fish can’t see you. but sometimes you can’t see them.

a newborn free diver at 67 years old? awesome!

Asayama-san feeling super comfortable underwater. super stoked for him.

i spear some sashimi for us. then as we do some more free diving, i could sense something weird.

then i see a shadow under me. probably because i’m holding a dead fish. i dive down to check it out and as i got nearer, it turned towards me. then i seen the stripes! OMG! SHIT! TIGER SHARK!!!!

then went to eat some sushi and have a beer talking about the coolest day ever. to swim with a tiger shark is very lucky. Asayama-san told me “what do you mean lucky????” haha.
Blue Sky and Emerald Water

yesterday afternoon, we went to get some fish. Maki-san, Reid, and Ren enjoying the blue sky and emerald water day.

first dive, nice! Reid speared that fat Moana. that’s the biggest one i seen in a long time.

then on our way to the next dive spot, we could see the floating party in the sea.

as we got closer, there where thousands of people!

boats totally overloaded and not safe at all. haha. but his is hawaii so it’s ok!

went free diving and seen some cool papio swimming right on by.

i have some pretty amazing photos taken from down under. i can’t believe most of the people swim that far out to sea. if Jaws came around, he would have an all you can eat buffet.

round 2 was pretty good too. it’s crazy how i can see the fish on a dish before i even shoot it. one for sashimi, and the other for the oven.

there is this lady that surfs all day every single day. i see her more than i see my chickens. she is super muscular and very strong. i just can’t guess her age?

had a great lunch with Asayama-san. first time he ate my favorite black bean seafood noodles.

and i keep on telling everyone, “look forward!” never look at me because if you do, you will run me over. just like how Asayama-san did yesterday. haha. surfing is a very dangerous job, but taking photos is 10x more dangerous. so hey, “look forward!”
