Forbes Magazine released its annual “BILLIONAIRE LIST” and here’s the breakdown. the worlds richest billionaire is Mexican Telecom guru Carlos Slim Helu. he’s worth $69 billion and this is his third year in the world on top. Microsoft’s Bill Gates was second with $61 billion. Warren Buffett third, and Frenchman Bernard Arnault coming in at #4.
as for japan, the wealthiest man in japan is Tadashi Yanai. he comes in at 88th on the list of world’s richest with $10 billion. the genius in the mastermind of the fastest retailing company in japan, UNIQLO. yeah, the same UNIGLO that will probably take over asia. think Quiksilver and Billabong are big? they are like ants against the giant. Anyway, Japan has 24 people mentioned in the Forbes global list of 1,226 billionaires and the Unites States has the most with 425 people.
i check news like this because it inspires me to succeed. i always ask myself “what would i do with that kind of money?” my answer is still the same. “I’d make this world a better place.” but for now, i might not be the richest person in the world, but i can say one thing, “I’m the happiest person in the world!” and to me, that’s all that matters. on my maldives trip, it was the first time using this beautiful suitcase i got as a birthday gift. a suitcase i haven’t seen before, a suitcase made out of leather so strong that they have advertisements with an elephant standing on it. on the way to the other side of the world, fine. on the way back to hawaii, somebody tried to open the lock and broke it. so i told the united airlines staff at honolulu airport what happened. i told them that i just got this suitcase and was super bummed out. they got my number, called me a week later, and said “sorry mr. fukunaga, there are no parts in america for your suitcase. we have to send it back to europe to have it fixed and it will take 3-4 months. what??? you can either wait, or we will buy you another suitcase.” 3-4 months i cannot wait. so they told me to pick out anything. anything?
i went down to Rimowa in waikiki, picked out the best one which was about $2,000. that one looked cool but was too heavy. so i picked out the 2nd most expensive one, called united, and they had it shipped to my door 5 days later. i have to say that the service at united air is great. i don’t know if it was because i flew business class? but if it is, i’m very happy to be a business traveler. haha.
**anyway, gotta get back to figure out what i’m going to say in front of the 8th grade class at Mid Pac tomorrow. i’m not good at speaking in front of people so i’m a little nervous. i think i’m going to start off saying “What’s up brah! Howzit going cuz!” haha.
