bodyboarding is fun. i use to be embarrassed to be a bodyboarder before but now i’m not. the reason is bodyboarding taught me a lot about barrel riding. my favorite bodyboard spot use to be sandy beach shorebreak. i use to just pull into barrel after barrel getting pounded and pounded. i use to get so deep and never make it out. but the feeling was there. i knew the awesome feeling of being in the barrel so when i started surfing after, all i wanted was to get barreled. and till this day, that’s all i look for….

tony has been taking video of the kids for years now. he has so much footage that are all on tape. we were talking in bali and trying to figure out how to get it off the tape, and into the publics eye. i can do it but don’t have the time for it. i know there is somebody out there that has the time and skills to do it so here’s my proposal. if you know how to edit, or want to learn how to edit, please contact me and we can work something out. i have so many video tapes too that need to get edited too. let’s meet, talk, and try to figure out how everybody can be happy. that’s what it’s all about. don’t miss the chance….

of all the hours of video, and all of the 6,891 photos i took, i will pop up some sneak peaks once in a while. i don’t want to blow the deal by showing too much because what’s the purpose when the magazine comes out right? i burned extra dvd copies of the files so if something happens to my computer or me, you will still be able to witness some of the nicest barrel riding in the mentawai’s. we all worked hard on this project and i can’t wait till it comes out.
for now, check out this short clip i took with my dig. cam. we woke up one morning, went out to check the waves, and watched perfect waves slip right on by. hayato was up on the boat playing around withhis crazy new fisheye video cam. wait till you see some of the footage he took. it will blow your mind. anyway, on this trip, i heard 5 people say that they got their best barrel of their life out there. watch the waves in this clip and you will see why.

this is seth moniz at 12. after seeing what i saw in bali, i’d have to say that there is no other kid in the world that can read a wave like seth does. his wave knowledge amazes me. and that’s the reason why he gets barreled all the time. and that’s the reason why he makes so many heats.

it’s just a matter of time till seth gets barreled on a 20′ wave. i can just see it happening. stay tuned….
