Hawaii Bicycle Skin Divers…

good morning. 6:30 am on this windy thursday morning. small and windy in town. small and windy on the north shore. junky conditions everywhere. a good day to windsurf, a good day to watch a movie, or a good day to work. i’ll probably go for a quick surf, watch a movie, and work. next week we have light winds everyday so great for surfing, diving, and diving. wait, i said that twice. haha… have a great day!!!

i left my house yesterday morning heading for diamond head. this guy pulled up in front of me and i had to look twice because something caught my eye. a speargun. then i look good and he had a dive float and fins too. it was my first encounter of a “bicycle diver.” if i wasn’t in a rush, i would have stopped him and asked for an interview. that would be interesting…. by the way, see that tennis ball? what’s up with that???

i pull on the side of him and take this photo. i wanted to ask him “hey, where you going diving? can i come?” haha. see that tennis ball? what’s up with that???

then i drive up the street a little more and see another bicycle diver. do you think these guys are friends? haha. of course they are. what’s the chance of seeing 2 bicycle divers on the same road heading the same direction with tennis balls on their guns? zero!
anyway, just by looking at the 2 guys spearguns, i figured it out and learned a new trick. see the tennis ball? they put that on the butt of the speargun so when they load the band, the butt doesn’t hurt and bruise their chest. and here i am spending $6 for a pad when i could be using a cheap old tennis ball. thanks for the tips guys. and if you ever come across my blog, send me an email because i’d like to interview the first “Hawaii Bicycle Skin Divers”[:?????$B!x(B???:]

i got a lot of emails asking which shrimp stand is romy’s? my answer is, “the one that has a sign with Romy’s on it.” nah, just joking. there are so many shrimp stands all over the place recently. drive towards kahuku from the north shore and it’s the last stand right before you hit the kahuku hospital. it’s red and has a sign “Romy’s”. please don’t get it mixed up with the stand on the side “Fumi’s”. Romy’s is much more crowded and if you try it, you will know why. my recommendation is the #1 plate. instead of shrimp, substitute it for prawns. suck the head and eat the tail in the spicy shoyu sauce. then you can thank me later…. haha… enjoy!!!
**and last, i’ve been getting a lot of international calls recently on my cel. phone. just to let you know, when ever somebody calls me from an international number, it says “CALL” on my phone so i don’t know who the heck it is. the number doesn’t come out. if you don’t leave a message, i’ll never return your call because i wouldn’t know who to call back. i got 5 missed calls yesterday and nobody left messages. well, i guess it wasn’t important….
**and last last, want to congratulate my nephew isaiah moniz for making his first heat at the ISA WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. round 2 today LIVE!!

Winter??

Surf/Drive/Shrimp/Rainbow Day….

good evening. long day so i’ll make it short. diamond head check @ 8 am. west swell so i went straight to bowls…

wanna know how fun bowls was? we surfed for 4 hours!! my longest session at bowls, and my longest session of the year… it was super clean and really sunny!! long rides all day long…

then we drove around the island from the east side. once we left sunny town, we passed through the likelike tunnel and it looked like another day on the east side. it was raining and dark. it was dark all the way around the island until we got back to waikiki. this is pipeline @ 3 pm. samukatta yo[:???:]

if i drive around the island, romy’s shrimp in kahuku is a must. after surfing for 4 hours this morning, i was so hungry i could have eaten a cow. romy’s was 1.5 hours later and i’m glad i waited. every bite was magic… this is risa-chan with her first romy’s experience….

i was explaining to risa-chan that the north and east side gets dark, cold, and rainy often. but town is always bright and sunny. sure enough, as we made our way back to waikiki, the rainbow was out, and so was the blue sky.
had a great day but i’m going down early tonight. long surf and long drive equals tired kirby. goodnight[]
