Cast Iron Surfers

It’s been over three decades of chartering boats, chasing waves, and exploring the world.  Tokura-san took me on my first boat trip back in 1993 to Indonesia.  Ever since then, I’ve been hooked on searching for the perfect wave.  Whether it’s in Hawaii or deep in Indonesia, it’s all fun.  So this was just another day of us surfers going with the flow and looking for waves.

When you come across a lineup with nobody out, it gets our hearts pumping fast.  Only a surfer knows the feeling.

Surfing a spot all to ourselves is a rewarding.  Sometimes you have to be lucky, and sometimes you have to know where to go.

I just bought a cast iron pan to fry meat.  It’s my first time trying it so I was excited.  It’s cool how the meat cooks differently.

Just like restaurant quality or even better.  I like my meat medium rare just like this.

Next was the lamb.  OMG, I’ll never eat lamb at a restaurant ever again because this turned out to be much better.

I just started another project.  So instead of taking a mid-day 1 hour nap, I’m going to spend that 1 hour on this new project.

I’m going to start by taking all the pieces off.  I’ve been wanting to do this for a very long time.

Always waiting for the perfect wave…

Good morning 5am.
North shore 3-5′ from the North. Laniakea good.
Ala Moana knee high and clean.
Diamond Head waist high and bumpy.
Trade winds at 15mph.
Sun, clouds, and warm.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

Wave Riding Champion

Forgot to post about yesterday.  I was so excited to go on the boat that I forgot to take my surfboard!  OMG!  Oh well, I was just as happy snorkeling around while everyone else surfed.  It was only us so it was very peaceful.

Small waves in town but if you look around, you will find a spot with waves and nobody out.

I was swimming with my mask so was taking underwater passes.

Looking at all the beautiful sea urchin.  This is why I teach everyone not to stand on the reef.

And finding shells along the way.  This one was a keeper.

Then Tokura-san would catch a wave and I’ll be right there.

Then back underwater to see the coolest things.

The turtles in Waikiki are so tame.  They will literally swim by and shake your hand.

Back up for air and here comes Deco-san flying by.  She caught 15 waves and was declared the champion of the day.

Tokura-san wanted to snorkel so he grabbed my mask and I rode his surfboard.

This is how you enjoy the ocean.  Surf or snorkel.  Or best yet, both!
