Buses, Trains, and Sushi…

good morning. yesterday was another adventurous day for me. i went to tokyo to visit my grandpa osaki’s younger brother masao. grandpa masao is 91 years old and i had a great talk with him yesterday. we spoke in both english and japanese. it was the second time we’ve met and surely not the last. i just couldn’t stop staring at his eyes because it looked so much like my grandpa’s. it feels like i’m actually talking to my grandpa. it’s weird but at the same time, it makes me happy. the two of them split apart at a young age, one living in hawaii, and one living in tokyo. but even though they lived so far from each other, they are so alike. the eyes, the calmness, and the mannerism. my brothers and sister haven’t met grandpa masao before but if they do, they would probably feel the same way. i hope we can all meet together someday….

i got to japan at noon and as soon as i walked out of the airport door, my body froze… it was 14 degrees and i only had a thin long sleeve tshirt… [:???:][:???:][:???:]
it was my first time catching the bus to tokyo. i liked it better than the train because it’s so quiet and i get a deeper sleep….

tokyo has all kind of cool shops. this one had my favorite fish called “sanma.” it’s soooo good!!!

my aunty sumiko and cousin toshi (who i met for the first time) had a great dinner together. this was my favorite. ikura/uni sushi. it went good with the beers.
**i caught the train home from tokyo last night. it took 1 hour and 40 minutes. i had to stand the whole way and i just kept thinking to myself “this is crazy.”

Help!!

Too many people in Tokyo!!!!

Indonesian Pearls and Iphone on rice…

did you know they raise pearls in flores, indonesia? a necklace averaged $20 but i wasn’t too sure about it. i would hate to buy one and bring it back to hawaii only to find out it was candy or something.. haha…

kairi noro is in california training how to become a world champion surfer. good luck kairi!!!

2 years ago when i went to a football game with my friend amy, she dropped her blackberry into her beer after UH scored a touchdown. after that, we were talking about how to dry it out. everybody says to leave it in a container with uncooked rice so the rice absorbs the moisture. i totally forgot about it until my classmate toby, who i’ve known since 3rd grade sent me an email yesterday saying to put it in rice. so my drowned dead iphone is sitting in rice and will be there for a while. should i put natto in there too? haha… hey toby, thanks for the tip. and can i please put our 5th grade photo on my blog? i still have it and it’s pretty classic….

and last. if your from hawaii, you will understand this sign. if your from anywhere else in the world, you probably won’t. i had to stop and look twice before deciding whether to park my car there or not…
