Captain Josh

Before I got on the boat with Joshua, I told myself to just go and learn.  Learn by watching his every action.  From driving the boat, from his equipment, from his cooler box, and from his actions and conversations.  I sat back and just absorbed his knowledge.  And from the very start, I was the student.  Joshua’s ocean knowledge is at an expert level already.  He looks at the ocean, he looks at the wind, he looks at the clouds, and he’s constantly analyzing the ever-changing conditions.  I actually felt really safe as him being the captain.  Up until now, he’s been asking me the questions, but from now on, I will be asking the questions.

People think you have to be a good diver to catch fish.  That’s actually not true.  What’s more important is you need a good captain who will put you on the fish.  Josh drove up to a spot in the middle of the sea, he grabbed his speargun, and jumped over the side.  I drove the boat and followed him.  10 minutes later, he comes up with this huge Uku!  I was so proud of him that I teared up.  This kid and his family will never starve!

World Shell Collection

I was so excited to surf this morning.  Diamond Head was excellent!

The waves got better and better throughout the morning.  It felt so good to surf glassy waves again.

Then I had to throw away some bulky trash.  The Keehi Transfer Station takes your trash for free!

Just pull up and throw away pretty much anything and everything.  BUT, if you go, take a mask because it’s super stinky!  I almost threw up when I got out of my truck.

When you least expect it, you can find treasure right in front of your eyes.

To me, this is treasure.

Just a few more shells for to add to my world shell collection.
