sometimes in life, you have your bad days. today was one of them for me. first, i go to my friends condo to wait for his new sofa to get delivered. it comes on time, they bring the big bulky sofa up the small elevator, and into the luxury condo. as they start to unwrap the sofa from the packing, one of the delivery guys steps on glass. glass? he tells me, hey, there is glass on the ground. then he steps on it again. weird? i was in there earlier and there was no glass anywhere. then the other guy steps on glass. i felt bad, gave them a nice tip, and said sorry about that when they left. then when i came back into the condo, i stepped on glass too. i looked up and the window was broken!!! OMG! they broke the big window in the condo. i get on the phone, i call the delivery company to make a claim, and the lady on the phone starts telling me “it’s not our fault. did you actually see the guys break the window? wasn’t the window broken from before?” she even laughed at me when i told her that i’m sure they did it. she hangs up, and tells me she will call me right back. no such call back.
i vacuum the condo. i wait for the call. nothing. i go back down stairs to my car and guess what?
a policeman gave me a parking ticket. hey, i parked there 100x and now i get a ticket? OMG!
i go to my car and pull off the $35 ticket. then i see a tow truck pull on the side. yes, the policeman called a tow truck too. OMG! good thing i got back to my car in time or it would have been towed away and would have to pay $200.
i was super shocked. the window i have to fix, and the ticket i have to pay. what a bad day. what’s next?
i wasn’t planning to surf this evening but i knew the only thing that would help me was the ocean. i wax my board, i paddle out, i catch 3 big sets, i ride them all the way, and i paddle back in. that 30 minutes in the ocean made me calm, relaxed, and happy. the window can be fixed, and the ticket is only $35. it could have been worst right?
i hope i have a better day tomorrow. and if anybody knows somebody that can fix a custom size window, please let me know.
oooops! one more thing. i was asked to give the banzai toast at my friends wedding on saturday. in hawaii, we do a banzai, banzai, and banzai. i guess it’s japanese american culture or something. in japan, isn’t it just a simple kanpai? please help me because i want to do it the traditional japanese way, not the american japanese way. mahalo.

Surfer Girls x Go-Naminori/65 kilos/Kitakami Market/Kobochihama in Hawaii
the new Surfer Girls Magazine in Japan just came out and was super stoked to see Kat on the cover! Kat is such a great musician and an awesome person. good to see her growing and growing, and singing and singing! Go-Kat!
super weird how people connect through go-naminori. my friend from 22 years just happened to be in bali shooting alyssa for happy haleiwa. they just met for the first time. i needed a photo of her within 24 hours for an ad. called shinsuke matsukawa, and 24 hours later, we got the photo. sent to Surfer Girls, and this is the final product. great photo matsu! thanks and see you on our next We Are One mission!
people think surfers have an easy life. try checking in and out a surfboard bag that weights 25 kilos, a suitcase that weights 28 kilos, and a camera bag that weighs 12 kilos. you get a free workout each time you check in, and check out.
good to see the We Are One Market in Kitakami filling up with supplies. i get goose bumps when i see photos like this. makes me so happy! ganbatte Naomi-san!!!!
remember kimura-san from kobochihama? he’s been super busy harvesting wakame and now going into oyster season. he and his family have been working from dawn till dusk ever since the tsunami. i just found out that kimura-san and his family will be coming to hawaii in july!!! it will be their first time here and i’m looking forward to taking them around this beautiful island.
