i had a great surf session this morning with Isojima-san. a super nice guy that loves surfing just as much as i do.
i wanted to do something different today so i took him to bowls through the backdoor. parked at magic island, walked through the super green park, and paddled across the channel. it’s just a whole new way to look at bowls.
Isojima-san surfed really good today. we had the inside bowl to ourselves all morning long. the waves were super perfect, long, and offshore. i was stoked to see him catching so many waves.
and yes, the new Hilton Hawaiian Village Rainbow Tower is almost done with renovations. it’s been months since they covered the famous rainbow and i’m glad to see part of it coming back brighter than ever! can’t wait to see the whole thing.
and i’m pretty sad to see what’s happening to our beautiful island. crane after crane and building after building. this once amazing view is going to get ugly in my eyes. it’s ruining our island.
and was stoked to see Anti ripping out today. super graceful, super local, super hawaiian, and super cool. a man we must all respect.
afternoon session photos coming soon. tomorrow is another training day in the ocean and i’m looking forward to fine tuning my gear for the last few times. then i’m packing and leaving! good night!

Backdoor Bowls and New Rainbow
J. HARA Store on Oahu
i heard a lot about the new diving, hunting, fishing store that just opened near my house. the J. Hara Store is 3 minutes away so i’m pretty stoked. i went to go check it out this morning and wasn’t disappointed. a store i will visit over and over.
so many fishing stuff and pretty cheap. the original J. Hara Store is on the Big Island so this is the second one.
i took this photo, sent it to Josh and Seth telling them “this is the one.” they met me down there, bought one, and will catch a lot of fish with it soon.
this is what we use to hunt pigs. a bow and arrow, just waiting in the mountains, take the shot, and have a lot of smoked pork. it’s been a while and i’m starting to get the urge to hunt pigs again.
a family owned business here in hawaii serving the people of hawaii. i totally support shops like this because they are getting fewer and fewer. let’s all support local businesses!
i was talking to the staff a long time about getting a gun. no, this is not fake, it’s real. no, it doesn’t cost $2,000, it cost $209. that is only 20,000 yen. i felt it in my hand and it felt good. you try to steal anything from me, you are going to have to talk to my new friend. i’ll call him Go-45!
anyway, go down and check out the J. Hara Store if you need a weapon for hunting. just do me a favor and stay away from the shotgun section. it’s a scary thought that anybody can walk in there and buy a gun. welcome to america, the land of freedom. and the land of murders, robberies, and killings. abunai.
