check out this cool love hotel in Colombia. they have these kind of hotels around the world and people asks me why we don’t have any in hawaii. i tell them “they don’t have love hotels in hawaii because nothing is private here. everywhere you go, you will know somebody. so it won’t work.” haha.
my little princess went hiking yesterday up the mountain in kailua. she took this photo and sent it to me. so beautiful and so happy she gets to see things like this.
and i was up the mountain and took this sunset photo. peace, nature, and calmness.
the talk of the town is still about Seth Moniz charging JAWS for the first time. not only charging, but getting barreled too! it takes a lot of guts to pull into a barrel like this. so stoked for him!
i told Akane-san and Pigu-san, “nothing i can guarantee in the nature, but i can guarantee you 99.5% that you will see a turtle here. and yes, we seen more than one. so guess you can say, pretty much guarantee.
stoked to hear my good friend Kevin Kamakura is shooting photos again! check out this cool shot at a secret spot. do you know where it is? i do.
was looking through some photos i took in Cuba. just enjoying the scenery every single day and every single moment. then the news comes yesterday that they are going to start having 20 direct flights from america to cuba every single day. OMG!!! now american is going to ruin another beautiful country. that’s very sad.
my backpacker buddies told me i have to to Cuba before america ruins it. i took their advice and now i’m glad i did. i don’t think i’ll visit there again. it might be torture to my eyes. and if you didn’t get the chance to visit Cuba yet, go NOW!!! not tomorrow, NOW!!!

Don't Touch Cuba!
JAWS TO NHCC: Family Support
i’m not a social media kind of guy and i don’t surf the web more then to get the surf forecast. but luckily i have friends that keep me updated by texts. got a few yesterday and was happy to see this story on surfingmagazine.com. it was a story about Shane Dorian and Seth Moniz. and since it’s not in japanese, i thought i’d share it with you.
they cancelled the Eddie Contest so Shane Dorian went over to the billabong house, took Seth Moniz a gun, and said “we’re going to JAWS!!!” yes, it was a total surprise. any other kid would say “no way!”, but Seth grabbed his shorts and was out the door.
they loaded up the car, went to the airport, and you could tell by this photo that Seth is very nervous. being a kid and all of a sudden your surf hero comes over and offers you a chance of a lifetime. i’d be nervous too. but it’s an offer that Seth would never ever turn down.
Seth Moniz on his first paddle in session at JAWS! this is so cool to see this because i always thought he would be the kid to follow in his Dad’s footsteps when it comes to big wave riding. this kid is fearless! and now he became a man.
Shane Dorian is the coolest guy. known him ever since he was 15 years old. in fact, we were on the same team for the world contest in japan back in 1980. i’ve always respected him for his waterman skills, and also hunting skills. and now he takes my nephew to JAWS? i have to personally thank him for that. hey Shane, thank you for taking Seth and showing him the way from boy to man. you’re a great person to give back to the kids like you’ve just done. much more respect for you!
it’s the “son, i’m so glad you are alive.” hug. my sister was probably freaking out so much she couldn’t watch. haha. after seeing this photo, i actually had tears in my eyes. the love and support my sister and Tony have for their 5 kids is amazing. moments like this is priceless.
