it’s amazing how beautiful waikiki is when looking from the outside. especially when the full moon is rising over and the sky is so lit up. everyone was stoked.
you don’t need a boat to snorkel here in hawaii. all you have to do is use your imagination and find a way. Asayama-san and i put our masks around our neck, took the SUP’s all the way out past the waves, and snorkeled with nobody else around. it was awesome!
if you’re with me for 2 weeks every single day, expect to do what i do. which is everything! everyday is different and i really don’t plan for anything. the waves and weather dictate my day and if you can flow with that, you will have a great time no matter what. Asayama-san thought he could never SUP. i always say, never say never.
we get to the outside, then Asayama-san put on his mask and swam around and around. i couldn’t believe how deep he was going!!!
this particular spot is just another of my secret spots. i can guarantee you 100% that you will at least see a turtle. and i will 95% guarantee you will see more than one turtle.
and if you know how to be calm in the water, the turtles will want to play with you.
this is the best inner muscle work out ever. you will hit muscles you’ve never hit before. core muscles is what makes you strong from the inside out.
had these photos on my desktop. last year pulled into wakayama and got to surf.
also got to meet friends. it’s weird how everything happens for a reason.
and welcome to world war III. where in the world is safe anymore? just the other day, my car almost got stolen with a passenger in the back seat. yes, it really happened right here in hawaii.

Storm Riders
luckily i checked the forecast last night and moved up our surfing an hour this morning. i knew a storm was approaching and before it, the waves would be super good. and yes, it was super good! glassy and perfect! Asayama-san on wave 100? gosh, it really must be around there. or even more than that.
then just as i thought, the storm came through at 9:30am. a beautiful glassy morning turned into a dark, rainy, ugly, and onshore day. by then, we were already in the car driving to lunch.
another day of perfect timing!
we wanted healthy so i knew the perfect healthy place.
always a great conversation. gosh, we’ve been eating really really good!
Asayama-san is living like a local. we take turns watching the truck so nobody steals the surfboards. once Asayama-san is finished, it’s my turn.
then since the waves got super junk, we headed out to sea on the SUP’s.
it was Asayama-san’s first time on the SUP. i taught him from the very beginning and 10 minutes later, he was paddling it perfectly.
so we headed out to the sea for a super fun time! brought the mask so we can pretend we are Urashima Taro. Asayama-san told me on the way in “i’m so happy. so many of my dreams came true!” wow, that makes me very very happy. long day again. better go to sleep because another long day tomorrow. time is flying by so fast i don’t even know what day it is anymore????
