Fujiki-san’s been here for the past 10 days and the waves have been super good the whole time. so today, he wanted to do something different, he wanted to go free diving and swim with turtles for the first time. i was stoked because that’s my speciality!

going out to the ocean, i don’t think Fujiki-san knew what in the world he was about to see. neither did i because the ocean has a different face every single day. anyway, we get out to one of my spots and throw the anchor. i give Fujiki-san a brief introduction on free diving. and the water couldn’t have been any cleaner.

then right when he jumps in, it’s a new world for him! turtles everywhere! only us as we enter the Urashima Taro world!

then Fujiki-san started off with a shallow dive, then went deeper and deeper on every try. just a little adjustments and he was doing super good.

then turtle after turtle came to say hello. they were everywhere! check out Fujiki-san getting comfortable in the underwater world. amazing job for his first time. this is deep!

the most beautiful creatures. i can’t believe i use to eat these guys when i was a kid. throughout the years, i learned how to interact with turtles so i can get pretty close, so close i could kiss them.

then i seen a tako on the bottom of the ocean. so i went to grab it, and when i brought it up, the aggressive fish came and tried to attack it! look at them all around Fujiki-san.

i asked Fujiki-san to hold the tako for a little while and i could see the fish coming and trying to attack him.

so i grab the tako and headed back to the boat. look at these fish charging me full speed!

sharks do this too. and i never ever let go of my catch. the reason for that is i don’t want to create a frenzy. that would be worst. so i always protect my dinner.

one of the fish ate a leg. look at him! he wouldn’t let go. haha.

finally got was what left of the tako on the boat, we pulled anchor, and went to look for some waves. Fujiki-san told me “i don’t have to surf, i’m totally satisfied.” i thought that was so funny because i always feel the same after an awesome free dive. total satisfaction!

went to eat a fat healthy mexican burrito. a great way to end the perfect day! then went back for an afternoon session. more photos coming. better sleep early because tomorrow is another full day in the ocean! and the new south swell is here! loving life again!

Today in the underwater world! Are you ok Fujiki-san?

i was surfing with my local friend Scotty last week at ala moana. we talk about everything from diving, surfing, contests, fights, and kids. Scotty’s daughter happens to be WSL pro surfer Alessa Quizon who’s on the tour now. she has the best backside attack in the business. Scotty told me she’s had some hard heats and is struggling for a good result. i told him “brah, your daughter rips. all she as to do is put it all together and she will do good.”

as i was watching the contest in El Salvador online yesterday, i watched Alessa put it together heat by heat. she was freaking ripping! ripped it all the way to the final and got a 2nd place finish. i was so stoked to see that! and i can’t wait to see Scotty and tell him, “that’s how brah! yeah!” i’m so stoked for Alessa, and i’m so stoked for Scotty.

passed by this beauty yesterday. i would love to live in one of these. but i wouldn’t want to maintain it. you’d have to be a billionaire to own something like this.

been coming home to the sweetest smell. the smell of fresh rain showers and sweet gardenias.

ok, heard about the new president in the philippines? from the day after the election which was 5/10/16, up until 6/15/16, his police killed 29 drug dealers, and arrested 3,760. slowly by surely, he’s cleaning up the streets in the philippines. i even heard that some drug dealers are turning themselves in to the police because they don’t want to get killed. i guess his “no bullshit” policy is working pretty dam good!
