Surfing Indonesia: Colors

super stoked to see Keith upload some photos of Taiwan to his Go-Naminori blog. i have a date in my mind on when i’ll visit Taiwan again, and that date is soon. thanks Keith for always making me want to come back for more.

super stoked to see Brian Surrat foiling at the young age of 68 years. he told me he never surfed again ever since he picked up the foil. haha. i know lots of foilers like that.

i’m wondering if Toda-san will ever surf after he foils more. haha.

one you get the basics down, everything else is easy.

was such a beautiful evening at Bowls yesterday with or without the foil.

more colors of our Indonesia trip by Matsu. “makan” in Indonesia means food. so colorful and so delicious.

colorful fruits everywhere.

colorful local food with colorful local Indonesian woman. haha.

the long trip home wasn’t so colorful.

Eri-chan, Takami-san, and Hikaru-san enjoying this super nice left to themselves.

Kimura-san charging the shore break.

Matsu with the beautiful bottom turn.

yeah, i was pretty stoked surfing perfect waves too.

can’t wait for my next surf trip!!!

Summer Solice: Today is the longest day of the year!

Good morning 5:30am.
Ala Moana knee to waist high and clean.
Diamond Head chest high sets and bumpy.
Trade winds at 15mph.
Sunny and very warm.
Going foiling.
Have a wonderful day!

Safe and Easy Hydro foiling…

had a great time this morning with Kakizawa-san. super cool surfer guy that loves to surf!

it was his first time surfing Bowls so he was a little nervous in the beginning. then after a few good rides, he was in the groove.

coming from Japan, this must be paradise!

Kakizawa-san on the good left. watching him ride over 20 waves in our 3.5 session was a treat.

Toda-san, Takami-san, and many friends were out today enjoying this beautiful day. i love surfing with my friends…

thank you Takizawa-san for the awesome marathon surf session…

then took Toda-san out for day 2 Foiling Boot Camp. i couldn’t believe how good he got!!! being the great surfer and snowboarder he is, i knew he would figure this frustrating sport out sooner than i did. haha. this shot is amazing!

then by the end of the session, Toda-san was cruising and enjoying the ride. welcome to the new world!

i got Tony’s old board so it’s wide, lots of volume, and so easy to ride. i felt like i was taking off on a longboard, but once i got up, i could turn this thing like a shortboard. this is my new small wave foiling board. even the knee high waves were super easy and fun.

i taught 3 people how to foil already and they are all ripping. it’s super easy if you learn the right way. and it might save you a trip to the hospital like me. haha.
