on this trip, Tony and I didn’t even plan to surf. in fact, we didn’t even bring any surfboards. but when we woke up on day 1, we couldn’t resit. so headed to the surf shop to rent boards. then we met a cool Italian guy that offered us a ride to the beach. this is what i love about traveling. just meeting surfers from all over the world that just love to surf. Tony hasn’t been here for over 30 years. and it’s my first time to the Gold Coast so everything is pretty new to us. we got our boards and headed to the contest site, Snapper Rocks. nobody was out at the point so we jumped in and tested it out. the reason nobody was out is because the waves were breaking over the rocks. so we literally surfed on Snapper Rocks! look at Tony go over the reef on his rental board. haha… as for the water, it’s warmer than Hawaii, clean, emerald, and so refreshing. no need for a wetsuit. after our surf, we were walking back to our hotel when we stumbled upon a foil shop? are you kidding me? we were like 2 kids in there checking out everything. then the owner says “let’s go foil in the afternoon!” what do you think we said? of course!!! Matthew, Tony, and i had the time of our lives. we were like 3 kids foiling and screaming in the ocean. we foiled Kirra and the waves were perfect. we foiled until it was dark. and it was Tony’s first time in decades that he surfed 2x in one day. haha… then met up with Rainos for dinner. we have the most amazing conversations. you would laugh so much if you heard what we talk about.before i came to Australia, lots of people told me the food isn’t the greatest. well, they were wrong. the food is great here!
