My Hawaii Kai Roots

242

this is the house i lived in from 13 to 19 years old.  my mom, sister, and 2 brothers.  went up there to do yard work yesterday and all the memories came back.  some good, some bad, and some ugly…

all the trees in the back yard needed to be trimmed.  this is half of the avocado tree…

and this is the other half.  this is one of the biggest avocado trees and you wouldn’t believe how creamy it is.  my mom planted it as a baby and it provide thousands of avocados over the past 40 years…

we also had a tangerine tree in the yard too so i filled my bucket up with some sweet ones.

Tony Moniz working hard.

4 truckloads of rubbish to the dump.  and still more to go.

i haven’t been in this house for the longest time.  so walking in felt kind of weird.  every step i took brought back a memory in that exact place i was stepping.   one memory was when my mom went on a trip when i was in high school.  then my brother and i invited some friends over for a party.  at 6pm there were about 5 guys.  then by 10pm there were over 100 guys and girls in my house.  then shortly after that, the police came and broke up the party.  if you went to Kaiser High School, you would have known this house.  i’m not proud of that, but it surely made more aware of stupid things teenagers do…
