last night there were lighting bolts hitting things around my house. my electricity went off twice. loud thunder too but i slept right through it. woke up this morning, sitting in my car at Diamond Head in the dark getting ready to surf, then i saw lightning and heard thunder. forget it. tried again later and the waves got super good! perfect clean swells and not too crowded.
when it rains hard as it did yesterday, the water will get dirty. Diamond Head is usually the cleanest in town because there are no rivers nearby. but today, you could see the dirty brown water on the outside that came from Kahala. thank goodness it was going out to sea.
as for Bowls, forget it. if you surfed there or near there, take a good shower. this is some of the dirtiest water in the State of Hawaii. i got asked when it will clean up? this will take a week and even though it looks clean, it isn’t. the dirty water will sit on the bottom of the reef and when the next South swell comes, it will stir it up and turn green. that’s even worst. so my advise is to stay away from that area for a while…
