i set goals for this upcoming 2022/2023 North Shore season. first of all, i want to get barreled at Backdoor! after surfing it last season, i realized i wasn’t 100% confident. maybe 90%, but that’s not enough. that 10% could get you killed. so after constantly tuning into the ocean, my equipment, my body, and my mind, i’m 100% ready again. this barrel happened over 10 years ago and i still remember it so well. after that, i was driving back to town singing and screaming the song “We Are the World.” i’m not joking!
my other goal this North Shore season is to foil a wave twice this size. i have the best equipment, i have the best waterman in the world towing me in, so it’s just up to me. this wave wasn’t that big but i’m flying at 40mph. i can’t imagine going any faster than that! super exciting! and yes, i was driving back to town singing “We Are the World.” haha
so that’s my goals and i already see it happening! and guess what i’ll be singing on my way back home?
