Backdoor Havana

back in 2015, i went to visit one of my friends in Mexico.  she took me to this magical place i didn’t know that even existed.  after driving deep into mountains, we arrived to this hole in the ground.  in that hole was some of the cleanest water in the world.  i jumped in and there were small turtles, fish, and sea creatures that i’ve never seen before.  the hole was small but it went deep downwards and sidewards with little pockets of air that you need to take a breath before proceeding deeper and deeper.  i’m pretty sure there must be a lot of swimmers that went in and never came out.  pretty creepy, but also so beautiful.

back in 2015, Cuba was still closed to Americans.  BUT, there was a way in if you wanted to take the chance.  and back in 2015, i would take any chance given.

cruising around Havana in a 55′ Chevy convertible.  i was heading to a bar called El Floridita where Ernest Hemmingway sat and drank his mojito.  pretty historic.  i would recommend Cuba to every American traveler because it’s like going back to America in the 1950’s.  it’s surreal, and it’s an amazing experience…
