When I heard the news about Larry Haynes passing away, I was totally shocked. I just saw him at the Eddie Aikau and the Pipeline Pro. He was working hard as usual on the back of the jetski getting the best video for the world to see. He looked healthy and happy as he always has for the 35 years I’ve known him. One of the happiest guys in the world. A few days after the Pipeline Pro, Larry went to surf Laniakea, walked to his car, had a heart attack, and passed away. The whole surfing world is totally shocked!
Larry had his GoPro with him that day and this was after his last wave of his life. After seeing Larry’s smile and stoke, I had the most overwhelming warm feeling in my heart. He did what he loved doing. We will all miss this wonderful man. Thank you for the surf trips, for the video clips, for the laughter, and for the stoke untill the very end.
