Roy's in Hawaii….

208

good morning. 7am wednesday. still a bit windy outside but not as much as yesterday. waves way down on the north shore. looks only 2′ or so. i think diamond head is bigger. i had a blast out there yesterday so probably surf there again today. i feel much better today and should be back to normal. so stay out of my way.. haha. by the way, wanted to say hello to the people in the philippines for checking out my blog. thanks for the cool comments. i love your country and can’t wait to go back there again… salamat…

this is my diving equipment. i don’t leave hawaii without it…

and these are kumu’s. if your a good friend of mine, you get to eat these…. the most sought out fish in hawaii….

and this big black fish is called a “roy” or peacock grouper. the roy was intentionally introduced to hawaii in 1956 from moorea, tahiti. BIG MISTAKE!! these roy’s are everywhere and are really aggressive. they eat all the young mempachi’s, uhu’s, and everything they can get their mouths around. that’s why we don’t have schools of mempachi’s anymore. almost every time i spear one, there is a fish or 2 in their stomach. i heard they eat 20 fish a day and are depleting our ocean resources. so if you see a roy, spear it. i think their is a movement to get these fish out of our waters before they eat everything up….
**by the way, josh moniz surfboard SOLD!!! thanks for all the emails…
