Big Shark, Big Dream!

311

yesterday has to go down as one of the most fulfilling day of my life. i haven’t been so happy so many times in one day. so many great things happened, and my eyes will never forget what i’ve experienced. as a diver and photographer, one of my biggest dreams was to swim with a whale shark. i’ve spent thousands of hours in the ocean but have never encountered one. i heard stories, seen photos, but it’s just not the same. i wanted to see this beautiful shark with my own eyes. and yesterday, it happened!

whale sharks are cool. they are so huge but swim so gracefully. i swam to one almost 3′ or 1 meter from its eye. looking at one of these things eye to eye was cool. they swim really slowly but keeping up is pretty hard. we swam with this one for a while, then seen another one after, then seen another one, then another one. i think there were 5 total. after i got out of the water, my legs were shot but i felt so happy and so satisfied! another dream came true! will i get another chance? people would probably say no, but no is not in my dictionary. of course i will see another whale shark again! thank you aries for taking this photo i will treasure for the rest of my life.

we scuba dove early in the morning. a crazy strong current dive that was super fun. you just hang on to the reef and see all the fish swimming around you in the current. pretty amazing. then as we were driving to the next location, i spotted this wave off an island. so after our second dive, i grabbed my board and surfed one of the most shallowest waves i’ve ever surfed. the waves were super hollow breaking over 1′ or .3M of water. when i was doing my bottom turn, i was hoping my fins didn’t break off. the waves were super fun and it was just me surfing alone again. something i love to do! thank you akaura-san for taking this photo and watching me surf.

then we did a late evening scuba dive. this pinnacle was amazing! so much fish i couldn’t believe it!!! i’ve seen every kind of fish species you could ever imagine in this 40 minutes.

i ended off my day with this beautiful exit. like i said before, on of the most fulfilling day of my life. after dinner, we celebrated and i went to sleep with a big smile on my face.
i took over a thousand photos yesterday. i have one or two that are the best underwater photos i’ve ever taking in my life. when i get back to hawaii, i’m sending it to National Geographic magazine. it will blow your mind!
