been on this big project for the past week or so. if the weather was good, we’d be done in 3 days. but since the weather has been bad, we all have to put our weather forecasting brains together, our great knowledge for hawaii, and umbrellas. haha. when the sun pops out, nothing can stop us. got some amazing photos i want to post on my blog but i heard i’m not supposed to. if you seen them, you wouldn’t think the weather has been this bad at all. the ocean, the mountains, and everything is so dam beautiful here even when it’s all wet. our stylist tiarre’s been taking some behind the scenes photos and i’m not sure if i’m even supposed to post this? so please don’t tell anybody. haha. but hey, wait till you see the finished product that will be out in bookstores all around japan in a few months! give you more info later. gotta get back to shooting!
it was not even a month after the 3/11, we went up to tohoku taking all kinds of supplies. water, food, warm clothes, etc. beer wasn’t nowhere in my mind. but after driving around seeing what we saw, something entered our minds. the women and children were so happy with the daily necessities we provided, but there was something missing for the fishermen. they were left with nothing. they didn’t need clothes, they didn’t need candy, they didn’t need daily necessities. these guys are tough! what the needed was something to cheer them up, something to make them feel good, and something that they drank every single day for most of their lives, BEER! so on Mission 2, we loaded up the van with lots of daily necessities, including beer for our fishermen friends. just remember that these guys lost everything. just remember that the last thing they will spend their little money left on is alcohol, and just remember that the nearest market is 2 hours away. when we pulled up to different villages and brought out the beer for the men, their faces lit up! we seen smiles that we were looking for. now 5 missions later, we will still take up beer for our fishermen friends. and hopefully one day, i will sit down with them around a hard days work and drink until morning. i don’t care what anybody says but these guys are my heros. these guys seen and been through the worst. now their back rebuilding their villages one by one and things will get better. i learned from these guys never to give up. NEVER!
**just wanted to say that all the beer was donated either by people sending it us, or our own personal money. no beer money was used from donations from We Are One. that said, we are going back to tohoku in april and if you want to hand to hand a case of beer for our friends, please do. i will post an address soon. mahalo.
