Asagi Hatchery breeds chickens that lay eggs. they supply most of the local farms with chickens and are experts in raising them. i went there to get some info about raising chicks and they were really helpful. a family run business with excellent service.
they sell brown chicks for about $6/each. they are a few days old and once you raise them past 5 months, they will start to lay a fresh egg every single day. cool!
while i was in there, i found out that they sell fresh eggs! yes! i was so happy. before, i would have to drive all the way to wahiawa to buy fresh eggs, but now i can get them right here in town. and guess what i ate for lunch that day? oyaku donbori. and dinner? sukiyaki with raw egg! so good! 12 fresh big brown eggs for $5.
i’m going there once a week to pick up eggs. then once my chicks start laying eggs, i won’t be going there anymore.
