good morning from japan. so excited to get on a plane soon. my flight leaves at 11am but i’m already ready at 4am. what to do? i wish there was a beach right in front of tokyo so i can go catch a few dawn patrol waves. that’s not the case so just dreaming about the next big swell to hit the mentawai’s right in time. yes, we are going to get waves the whole trip! so to our 12 person crew, get ready for some big barrels. i’ll be waking up every morning at 4am on the boat and getting in the water first. that’s my style! don’t like to waste any minute. yeah!!!!
when i flew from hawaii to japan, i couldn’t sleep like i usually do. why? i’ll get to that later. anyway, i ended up watching 4 movies.
one was Blue Hawaii starring Elvis Presley. what a cool movie that came out in 1961. i wasn’t really interested in the story, i was interested in old hawaii. no hotels, no big airport, and no magic island. it was really cool seeing ala moana beach park before they built magic island over the reef and surf spot. and cool to see only a few hotels in waikiki. Elvis was a romantic guy like me, always taking his girl to tanatalus. haha. just joking. but the view back then was much different than now. it’s actually pretty sad looking at the change.
look at tanatalus now. lots more concrete!
then i watched another cool movie. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. super weird and boring start, but a super action packed end. this actress did an amazing job. i will surely watch this movie again.
back to why i couldn’t sleep on the plane? i’ll tell you why. when ever i fly business class, i always take the window seat. i lay my seat back 180 degrees, and sleep like a baby the whole way. but this time, i sat in the isle because i drank lots of water and knew i was going to the bathroom more than once. i recline my seat, i cover myself with my blanket, then bang!!! bang!! every time the flight attendant walked past me, she bumped my arm either with her soft ass, or with her hard cart. woke me up about 6 times and even when i was up, i was getting bumped. i use to fly japan airlines all the time and this never happened. or if it did, the flight attendant would at least say “excuse me, or sorry.” not on united. no apologies, no nothing. i’m not complaining or anything, i’m just letting you know the next time you spend thousands of dollars on flying business class, you better choose the right airline. my best choice for service is japan airlines, but they have smaller seats. my best choice for seating is delta. either one works.
