i met the coolest surfer guy from okinawa yesterday. his name is Musashi-san and he loves to surf. his first time to hawaii so i take him to the best spot on the island yesterday. after his second wave, he told me, “that was the longest wave of my life!” then he caught 10 longer waves after that. the best part of my job is when somebody paddles back out with the biggest smile on his face. that’s surfing. that’s life. that’s all that matters. today, let’s do it again!
last night we went to Jason Mraz live. to tell you the truth, i wish he didn’t wait till the end to sing his best songs. one of us actually fell asleep during the concert. but once he sang “I’m Yours,” nobody was sleeping! a great artist with a great voice. and of course, a surfer!
david yi from southern california sent me an email about 4 years ago telling me about a surfer musician named jason mraz. he even sent me a cd because his music wasn’t famous at that time. david told me “this guy is going to get famous!” he was right. millions of people around the world love his music, including me. thanks david!
after i walked out of the front row of the concert, i seen a lot of people in the park outside listing to the music for free. it reminded me of my high school days when we all sat outside and listened to C&K and Kalapana. we couldn’t afford to buy a ticket so that’s what we had to do. the next concert at the waikiki shell, i’m siting outside just for the old times sake.
