last year on one of our missions, i dropped my expensive camera and lens on the cement. about $2,000 worth. something broke in the camera and at that time, nothing phased me. i just picked it back up and put it back in my camera bag. on any other given day, i’d be bummed. but after 3/11, i realized that somethings can be replaced and somethings can’t. this can. anyway, i had time in tokyo to get it checked out so i went to the canon service center in ginza the other day. it cost 9000 yen for them just to look at it. much cheaper than what it would cost in hawaii. i hope the final bill isn’t too bad.
the best way for me to learn things is to do it by myself. so driving in the crazy tokyo traffic taught me a lot of things. first, nobody on the road is nice. and second, parking in ginza cost 800yen or $10 for 10 minutes. OMG!
mentawai was not too long ago but seemed like years ago. i better get started in planning our 2013 go-naminori dream boat trip!
going in and out of the shorebreak at a river mouth is a dangerous thing. tomoyuki-san has been surfing rivermouths for so many years and look what happened!
yeah, the shorebreak got him. it got me before, and lot’s of other experienced surfers. be very careful!
tomoyuki-san is a shrimp fisherman. he gave me some and i just love it. brought it all the way back to hawaii.
