good morning. gosh, the waves were so fun yesterday. it was onshore but still overhead on the sets with long walls. i borrowed yasan’s new 5’8 glenn minami and it was working so good. i scraped the wax off and am getting ready to put my stickers on it. i asked yasan if i could have it but he said no. he told me to order my own. i couldn’t say anything to that because if that was my board, i wouldn’t give it to anybody either. a magic board is a magic board and i understand how important it is to have one. glenn minami is coming next month so i’ll have to wait for mine. but in the meantime, i’ll be riding yasan’s board and when he asks for it back, i’m running away… haha…
i say it every time i come to shikoku, and i’ll say it again. nonami is my favorite place to eat lunch. i’ve been going there on each visit for the past 17 years…..
my cel phone camera takes the worst photos but this is what we ate for lunch. hormone stir fry, chicken stir fry, yaki soba, yak meshi, and okonomiyaki. every thing was so good….
i want to thank my 14 year old japanese teacher reika for yesterday’s lesson.
she taught me “MITAME YORI”
that means “BETTER THAN IT LOOKS”
the waves didn’t look that good from the parking lot but once i got out, it was much better than i thought. so in japanese, you say “MITAME YORI NAMI GA YOKATTA”, which means in english “THE WAVES WERE BETTER THAN IT LOOKED”. now i’m going to use that all the time…. haha…
and last, if i can describe kairi in one word. it would be “WILD”. this 10 year old kid cracks me up. i can’t stop laughing at the things he says and does. kairi’s wild, but cute wild. this kid’s dream is to become a famous professional surfer. i think he’s on the right tracks. watch out for kairi’s world….
