sunny garcia hates to lose. he won’t even settle for a 2nd place. when he wins, he’s the happiest guy in the world. but when he loses, run away. i stayed together in the same hotel room in japan with sunny when he lost in the first round to a japanese wildcard surfer. everybody ran away, i only stayed because my bed was in the same room. i remember it being a very long day. then i’ve also been with sunny when he won. super high. it’s in the blood of champions. champions love to win and hate to lose. there is no in between. that’s why i was stoked to see sunny win the contest yesterday. he must have been a very nice guy. or should i say, a very nice grandpa. congratulations sunny!
when you see the sky so blue in the evenings, that’s because the fresh north/east tradewinds are blowing strong, cleaning up our air. you got to love the colors.
i was at the beach for a long time yesterday. surfing with the kids, paddling in the lagoon, and enjoying a weekend here in hawaii. thank you toda-san for taking this photo.
my new friend kanta is such a cute kid. we had such a wonderful time yesterday. surfed, ate lunch, played, and had our rainbow desert at waiola shave ice.
after i did the paddle the other day, i had to return the board i borrowed. i checked how much it cost and the price was $1,500. ouch! too expensive for a toy. then i researched for a used one and guess what? i found a practically new one for $500. i bought it, now it’s in my garage, and the next time i’m feeling energetic to paddle the molokai channel, i’ll see you there. this was the best exercise i’ve had in a long time. spend money to go to the gym or spend money for a paddle board that will get you in the best shape possible. easy answer.
well, want to congratulate joshua moniz again. i’m still tripping out he got 7th place. i’m so stoked for him!
