every year i come to japan, i head over to the destination surf factory in shonan. destination has been my sponsor for a long long time. their products are top quality and last forever. in fact, i have a leash from 10 years ago that i use on one of my boards. i know i’m supposed to use new products but i can’t see myself throwing or giving something away that has been with me in barrels after barrels. you know what i mean? like that old t-shirt you can’t get rid of? just like that….

**oh, i wanted to say something about good quality products such as leashes. did you know that your leash can save your life? i bet you didn’t. imagine your leash breaking when your surfing big haleiwa? oh my gosh!! or imagine your leash breaking on an outer reef? oh my gosh!! or imagine your leash breaking at a surf spot in front of rocks? oh my gosh!!
and last, imagine your leash breaking or coming off if you hit your head on the reef and knock out? oh my gosh!! having a good leash will get you out of the worst situations. many surfers have drowned and saved by their leash. you still have time to get pulled up and given CPR if your leash is still attached to your leg. if not, your pretty much over. it’s happened many times and it will happen again. i’m not trying to scare you but that’s the risks of surfing. and to have the best quality product is important. for me, it’s destination…..
