today was hilarious! diving with the kids makes me laugh on water, under water, and even through my snorkel. just watching as they experience nature first hand is something special. we meet at the dock at 6:30am. i told Gen and Josh not to be late. Gen was on time, Josh was 10 minutes late. Gen is japanese, Josh is moniz. shikataganai means “it can’t be helped.” haha.
we pull out of the harbor and head to my secret spot. yeah, lots of fish and lots of sharks, big sharks. we dive for 2 hours, lots of fish on the buoy, and lots of blood in the water. i spear a huge nenue, then i clean the guts right in the water as i see Gen going down for his. there is blood everywhere. i get up to look for Josh, he’s already in the boat yelling “HUGE SHARK!!!!” he said he was stalking some uhus when he seen 2 turtles swimming toward him, right behind them was a huge shark trying to eat the turtles. then it headed straight for Gen and I. luckily, i didn’t see it. yeah, i know they’re there, but i rather not see them. Josh seen the biggest shark he’s ever seen and i’m 99% sure it was a tiger shark. why? because no other sharks try to eat big turtles.
so we change spots and go inside. this is funny because they think it’s safe. do they think sharks can’t swim? haha. we spot tako holes everywhere. 5 or 6 big tako’s in 1 hour. we dive for a total of 3 hours and fill my cooler up so we decided to go in. 10:45am, we were heading back to the dock. fast and furious! that’s how i like it.
it’s photo time as i like to document all my dives and the progress of the kids. Gen and Josh are getting better and better at finding tako, and getting the tako out of the hole. the only thing the still lack skill is getting it into the bag. haha. they panic and scream like girls. haha.
octopus fight! kids will always be kids. and with experiences like this, their relationship will get stronger and stronger. that’s how friendships are built. and when one life depends on the other, a whole different aspect of loyalty and honor comes into play. these kids watch over each other. that’s cool.
imagine all these fish tied on the buoy bleeding into the water. i was kind or surprised the tiger shark took so long to get to us.
the kids needed a photo for their instagram. i needed it for my memory.
then as we were going into to harbor, i was thinking to myself “wow, these kids are growing up so fast. i remember when they only surfed at waikiki. now they surf the north shore, now they dive deep, and now they take home dinner, and now they swim with the sharks. it’s great progress in both of these kids life and i’m really proud of them. good job boys!
